KONGLISH began as a passion project in 2022 by a group of Korean students who wanted to make English learning simpler, clearer, and more connected to everyday Korean life. Since then, it has grown into a comprehensive learning platform used by thousands of learners who share one goal: mastering English, the Korean way.
From humble beginnings in 2022 to a growing online community, we continue to evolve based on what learners truly need.
๐Our History
- ๐ 2022: KONGLISH was born in a university dorm room, when a group of Korean students struggled with confusing English textbooks and unnatural examples. They started collecting common mistakes, Konglish expressions, and practical English phrases in a shared Google Doc. That doc became the seed for KONGLISH.
- ๐ 2023: Realizing the need for a user-friendly platform, the team launched the first version of KONGLISH. It featured simple vocabulary lists, grammar explanations in Korean, and a โKonglish correction cornerโ where learners could see side-by-side comparisons of awkward and natural English.
- ๐ 2024: With growing interest from other schools and learners, KONGLISH introduced interactive games, quizzes, and a mobile-friendly interface. New sections such as โEnglish in K-Dramasโ and โBusiness English for Koreansโ were added to meet real-life needs.
- ๐ 2025: KONGLISH became more than a toolโit became a community. Students began contributing their own example sentences and questions. Native speakers volunteered to review content, and the site launched a โKONGLISH Forumโ where learners could ask questions and share tips.
